This
academic session began with great enthusiasm. This year, four hundred
and eighty nine students (489) took admission in the college. Among
these, two hundred eighty (280) are girls and two hundred nine (209)
are boys.

It
is a matter of great pride for us that,
Miss
Amandeep Kaur of BA 1st yr won merit position in the
university exams
Miss
Lovepreet Kaur of BSc 1st yr (Non Med) stood first in
Dist. Gurdasur.
Mr.
Pardeep Kumar of BSc 1st yr (Non Med) stood first in
Dist. Gurdasur.
Our
nine PGDCA students scored 75% marks
Mr.
Sahib Singh of M A 1st yr won merit position in the university
exams.
Recent Additions in the
Library:
In
addition to the existing stock, this year too, we purchased books
on various subjects of worth Rs forty thousand. This year, three
computers with networking and high speed internet were fixed in
the library.
Religious Activities:
The
academic session began with celebrations of the ‘Inauguration Day’
on 12-08-08. During the occasion, the ‘Sukhamni Sahib’ was recited
and the ‘Kirtan’ was performed.
On
07-10-08, the great ‘Kirtan Darbaar’, dedicated to ‘Guruta Gaddi
Divas’, the Tri Century establishment of Shri Guru Granth Sahib,
was organized in the college campus.
Our
five students participated in the 36th central annual
program, held at Shri Anandpur Sahib.
Seventy
six students from our college appeared in the religious test organized
by the SGPC. Our eleven students won scholarships in the said exam
in the session 2007-08.

Our
students participated in the GNDU youth festival at Amritsar and

It was a matter of great
pride for us that our college won Over All Runners up Champions’
Trophy in the competition.
It is a matter of immense delight that the
college is continuously winning trophies in the said festival, since
six years.
NSS Activities (Boys
and Girls):
This
year, two, ten days NSS camps, from 01-10-08 to 10-08-08, were organized,
in the villages, Kotla Moosa and Nathpura.
The
NSS volunteers planted trees in the college campus.
Throughout
the year the volunteers helped and participated in various activities
of the college.
NCC Activities (Boys
and Girls):
Our
cadets participated in a ten days camp began on 8th September
at Amritsar. Our cadets won gold medal in the painting competition,
two silver medals in solo dance competition.
Three
cadets from our college participated in the camp started on 8th
November, 2008. Our cadet won first place in solo song competition.
Six
cadets (girls) in BEE certificate test have appeared and four cadets
(03 girls, 01 boy) are going to appear in the CEE certificate test.
Sports Activities:
Under
the guidance of Prof. Sutantar Singh, our students won following
positions in different events, organized by GNDU Amritsar.

New Constructions:
The new block of the college is being erected
with the joint efforts of the SES and LMC. The Punjab Government
has also sent Rs. 1300000 to complete the construction. In the coming
session, he classes would be started in the new class rooms.
To
give a new look to the college stadium, the ground is being beautified
with the help of local sports club named, Youth Welfare and Sports
Club.
Three
computers labs of the college have been shifted into the newly constructed
hall. All the 72 computers have been connected with networking and
high speed internet.
New
trees have been planted, in order to increase the beauty of the
campus.
College Transportation:
Last
year single bus on lease was started to bring the students from
the villages around. This year two buses on lease have been started.
The college transportation has helped the students a lot, since
the marginal fare only is charged.
Our College Staff in
the University:
Our
college officiating Principal Dr. H K Mahajan is member of Academic
Counsel, GNDU Amritsar.
Mrs.
Sarabjit Kaur and Dr. Harpreet Singh Hundal are the members of Faculty
of Languages, GNDU Amritsar.
Mr.
Kulwinder Singh is the member of Science Faculty, GNDU Amritsar.
Mr.
Gurinder Singh is the member of Social Sciences Faculty, GNDU Amritsar.
Campus Activities:
A
seminar on Unemployment was organized in the beginning of the session.
The
inauguration day was organized on 12-08-08, where in, the Transportation
Minister Punjab; Master Mohan Lal attended the function as chief
guest.
With
the help of Sikh Cheitna Manch Dehriwal, a seminar on Drug Addiction
was organized in the college campus.
A
seminar, on “British Empire and Spreading Education in India” was
held on 20-09-08, where in, the Head, Hist. Dpt. GNDU came all the
way from Amritsar.
On
03-10-08, the NSS unit of the college organized a discussion on
the great Martyr, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, wherein Dr. Harminder Singh
Bedi, Head, Dpt of Hindi and the prominent personalities of Qadian,
Participated with great enthusiasm.
On
07-10-08, the great ‘Kirtan Darbaar’, dedicated to ‘Guruta Gaddi
Divas’, the Tri Century establishment of Shri Guru Granth Sahib,
was organized in the college campus. Our former student and the
famous ‘Raagi Bhai Joginder Singh Riar performed Kirtan along with
Bhai Gurkirat Singh, from Harmandir Sahib, Asr, Bibi Harbir Kaur
and Satwinder kaur of Jawaddi Kalan, Bibi Puneet Kaur Khalsa, Bhai
Harpreet Singh Riar and other prominent religious singers. On the
occasion, president SES, S Gurdev Singh Brar presented mementos
to the Kirtan performers.
On
18-11-2008, a Gurumat program was held, especially with the cooperation
of Bhai Jaswinder Singh Khalsa UK, the chief organizer ‘Sukrit Trust
Ludhiana. In the function, our BA 3rd year student, Bachiter
Singh was awarded a computer, since he stood first in the Gurbani
recitation and Sehaj Paath competitions.
On
24-01-2009, birth anniversary of the 10th Guru, Sri Guru
Gobind Singh ji was celebrated with full devotion and enthusiasm.
S Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal participated in the program and he also
announced a grant of Rs. 5 lakh for the college.
On
16th Feb 2009, the annual sports day of the college was
celebrated. One hundred fifty students of the college took part
in the Parade and they also participated in various events. Matka
Race, Three - leg Race, the Tug of War were the chief attractions
of the enthusiastic day. Mr. Palwinder Kaur among girls and Mr.
Jagpreet Sing among boys were declared the best athletes.
Throughout
the year, communication with NRIs, like Dr. JB Singh, SS Bajwa,
and S. Robbie Dhillon, the active members of the social Organizations,
ASAP and NESSC from America, continued through e-mails and conference
calls. This year too, they sent us Rs. 3 lakh, as scholarship, for
thirty students of BCA 1st, 2nd and 3rd
year. Earlier,
they had sent Rs. 6 Lakh, from which Rs. 2 Lakh had been spent on
purchasing new computers, and Rs. 2 lakh had been used for developing
transportation facility for poor students, of remote villages surrounding
the area and Rs. 2 Lakh had been reserved for 20 scholarships for
the poor students, who are getting professional education in this
college. Till now, they have donated Rs. 9 lakh for the welfare
of the students.
